Massage for Migraines

Living with migraines is tough.

It’s a complex and multi-layered condition that expresses itself uniquely from person to person.

Migraine symptoms are most strong, of course, in the head and digestive tract.   And – there’s always, also, a generalized, system-wide blend of tension and inflammation throughout the whole upper body that’s as much a part of the migraine process as the places that hurt.

Our sessions address all of that - and my clients with migraines consistently report significant improvement in frequency, intensity and duration of their episodes.

The approach is the same as in all of my work:  to bring space to the places in the body that are tight and constrained  so that tension can ease and circulation can flow, including:

  • The scalp muscles

  • The bones of the skull

  • The membranes inside the skull

  • The neck muscles that support the skull

  • The various structures of the mouth and jaw

  • Muscles and structures of the throat, including the tongue

  • The base of the neck and throat in the shoulders and upper torso

  • The muscles and bones of the ribcage; and

  • The layers on muscles along the upper abdomen, including the respiratory diaphragm.

The work I offer inside the mouth is especially valuable in work for migraines… and can be easily learned in recorded zoom sessions.
